Public meeting about SM 101 Managed Lanes Project

Attend a public meeting on Wednesday, May 31st to learn how this project can help manage traffic between Northern Santa Clara County and San Mateo County
San Mateo, CA (May 19, 2017)… The City of San Mateo is proud to serve as a host location for one of the two public meetings Caltrans is holding about the proposed SM 101 Managed Lanes Project on U.S. 101. Join us on Wednesday, May 31st at San Mateo City Hall located at 330 West 20th Avenue to learn about the project, ask questions and share ideas to reduce traffic. The meeting begins promptly at 6:30 p.m.

The proposed Managed Lanes Project seeks to find a solution to the growing congestion occurring on U.S. 101 in Northern Santa Clara County and San Mateo County. Given the importance of the 101 Corridor from San Francisco County through San Mateo County and into Santa Clara County finding a solution has become a high priority. The purpose of the proposed project is to provide a continuous managed lane in each direction on U.S. 101 from the terminus of the Santa Clara County Express Lanes to I-380 in San Mateo County.

This continuous lane would be managed in real time to achieve maximum efficiency and operations towards reducing congestion in the corridor, encourage the use of carpooling and transit, provide managed lanes for travel time reliability, minimize degradation of general purpose lanes, increase person throughput, and apply technology and design features to help manage traffic.  Continue reading “Public meeting about SM 101 Managed Lanes Project”
