Each year the City of San Mateo prepares an Action Plan that tells HUD what projects are important to the San Mateo community and how we plan to spend the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. As part of that process, the Community Relations Commission would like to hear from you about what you think are the most important needs in your community. The workshop will be held:

San Mateo City Hall Conference Room C
330 W 20th Ave. San Mateo, CA 94403

San Mateo Parks and Recreation Department is holding a Neighborhood Meeting on Monday, October 22, 2018, from 7 – 8 PM at King Center, for the proposed King Park Improvement Project.
The proposed Scope of Work includes: replacement of the athletic field with synthetic turf, maintaining a perimeter of natural grass for tree protection; replacement and/or repair of the athletic field fence; re-development of the park area between the field and center, including realigning the pathway; moving the picnic area to the west, adjacent to the restroom to provide more consolidated informal natural grass; upgrades to the outdoor basketball court; new tables and a low fence along Eldorado Street; and security lighting upgrades.
Because of the amount of grading required, a Site Development Planning Application must be approved by the Planning Commission; thus the requirement to hold a neighborhood meeting. Project contact is Paul Council, 650-522-7263, or pcouncil@cityofsanmateo.org.
Dear HANCSM community:

This November San Mateo and Foster City voters have a chance to support our public school teachers and students by voting YES on Measure V, which will give our school district a reliable source of revenue to attract and retain teachers and secure STEM, music and art programs in our local elementary and middle schools.
Measure V is a parcel tax that would replace one that expired in 2017 and senior citizens can be exempted. Our district receives less per pupil then most of the districts in our county. We are 14th out of 17 in per student funding for elementary districts in San Mateo County. If Measure V fails there will be significant cuts to staff and programs that will disproportionately affect families and students in North Central.
On Thursday, September 27th, the HANCSM board voted to endorse Measure V which passed by majority vote (9-Yes, 2-No, 1-Abstain). We believe that investing in public education benefits the entire community and we want to be on the right side of history by supporting Measure V.
The HANCSM board is comprised of 11 North Central residents who are actively involved in the community and City. The HANCSM board’s endorsement is not a representation of the views of our entire North Central neighborhood or of the HANCSM members.
Come meet your neighbors and enjoy some light refreshments (también hablamos español) – all are welcome to join our HANCSM General Meeting!
