Love North Central Wins Outstanding Volunteer Award! Celebrate with us 7 PM Monday at City Hall!

Dear HANCSM community:

I’m pleased to announce that your HANCSM Board was selected by the City of San Mateo as one of this year’s “Outstanding Volunteer Honorees” in 2018 for the Love North Central campaign and cleanup event!Screen Shot 2018-06-13 at 5.59.47 PM
Of course, while the Board got these efforts started, it wouldn’t have been Outstanding without hundreds of neighbors like you who came to the cleanup; you who adopt drains and call city lines to mitigate dumping and graffiti in our neighborhood; you who go above and beyond to Love North Central! Thank you!
Bennito Angeles (HANCSM Board member) and his wife, Francis, will accept this honor on our behalf during a brief ceremonial item at the beginning of tomorrow night’s City Council meeting (7 p.m. SHARP on Monday, October 15, in the Council Chambers of City Hall (330 W 20th Avenue, San Mateo, CA 94403). This meeting is open to the public: if you’re available, please feel free to come in your Love North Central T-shirt and show support! Bennito and Francis will take a photo with the award and all neighbors outside the Council Chambers immediately following the ceremonial, to commemorate the occasion.
If you can’t make it tomorrow night, please be sure to join us for our upcoming Fall General meeting, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Thursday, October 25 at King Center. We’ll bring the award there for all to see and enjoy!
Congratulations and Thank You, North Central, for being Outstanding Volunteers in our neighborhood and city!
Cordially,
Adam Loraine

HANCSM Board Nominations – Volunteer Opportunity

Dear HANCSM members:

As noted in our bylaws, our upcoming Fall General Meeting (6:30 p.m. Thursday, October 25, at King Center) allows for the nomination and election of new members to the HANCSM Board (click here to meet your 2018 Board!)

If you’d like to help plan future general meetings and other projects, such as the Love North Central campaign–or if you know someone in the neighborhood who would–please plan to have candidates attend out next general meeting!

Our Board can have up to 15 members, and it currently has 12, so there are opportunities for multiple interested people to join. Each candidate will have a moment at the General Meeting to introduce themselves to those in attendance, explaining why they’d be a good fit for the Board. Then all present members can vote, and those who receive the most votes will win!

One must be a paid member to be considered for the Board, but annual dues are $10, and interested non-members can pay and register at the General Meeting to be considered.

The Board generally meets once a month on months without a quarterly general meeting (usually 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. on fourth Thursdays at King Center). The next Board meeting will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday, November 29 (at King Center), and no meeting will occur in December; meetings will resume in January 2019. Board members are elected to terms of 2 years, and regular attendance of Board meetings is expected. We welcome new faces to join the HANCSM  leadership team!
