unnamedFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Community Workshop Meeting U.S. 101/Peninsula Avenue Interchange Project

First in a series of community workshop meetings intended to gather public feedback to improve Peninsula Avenue Interchange in San Mateo
San Mateo, CA (April 12, 2017)… The City of San Mateo is hosting an interactive community workshop meeting on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. to review and gather input on the proposed US 101/Peninsula Avenue Interchange Project. The meeting will be held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, 725 Monte Diablo Avenue in San Mateo.
Peninsula Avenue is a major gateway to the City of San Mateo. The project will relocate the existing US 101 southbound on- and off-ramps from East Poplar Avenue to Peninsula Avenue to eliminate the partial interchange condition and create a single, full access interchange at Peninsula Avenue and Airport Boulevard. This will result in an improvement to the safety and traffic operations within the Peninsula Avenue interchange area and local intersection in the project study area.
The City and its project team are in the process of developing and evaluating various design options for interchange improvements at the US 101 /Peninsula Avenue interchange in San Mateo. Community input is vital in this process to the analysis. The project team will look at opportunities and constraints while gathering local input from the community and stakeholders.
The community workshop meeting will be interactive and gather input on concepts for design, traffic study intersections, and multimodal, complete street elements, parking, bicycle and pedestrian issues. Learn about the proposed study and give us your feedback on existing conditions and issues as well as your suggestions for improvements in the future.
The City of San Mateo will have staff and the Project’s design team in attendance at the Community Workshop Meeting.
