Downtown San Mateo retail survey results and May 4th retail forum

HI, All, I filled out the Downtown retail survey and, look! here are the results. There’s a meeting on May 4th from 9-11am at the Astaria Restaurant at 50. E. Third to discuss the future development of downtown. — HANCSM web person, Karen Jensen

Greetings,

You are receiving this email due to your response to the recent Downtown San Mateo Retail online survey where you indicated you wished to receive a copy of the results and find out more information about our downtown retail project. First, on behalf of our Leadership San Mateo/Foster City/Burlingame/Hillsborough class project team, thank you for completing the survey and sharing your perspectives on this topic. As we indicated in the online survey, this was part of a community leadership project to assess the current state of retail shopping in downtown San Mateo and future opportunities. We received 177 responses to our survey and attached is a summary of the results of the multiple-choice questions. The open-ended responses are not included here due to their number and extent, but I’ve attached an analysis of commonly-used words and phrases from these open-ended questions to help identify key trends. This survey data will be used to help evaluate retail shopping opportunities in downtown.

In addition, given your expressed interest in this topic, we wanted to invite you to attend an upcoming forum related to our class project. This forum is entitled “The Future of Retail Revitalization in Downtown San Mateo” and will be held on Wednesday, May 4 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Astaria Restaurant (50 E. Third Avenue). The invitation-only forum will feature a panel of experts who will share perspectives on the future of retail recruitment, retention, and diversification in downtown. Attached is a flyer with additional information about the forum. To RSVP, please send an email by April 29 to leadershipretail11.

Thank you again for your input and please feel free to let me know if you have any questions or would like further information.
